Alan Bisset
Alan Bissett is a playwright, novelist and performer from Falkirk, who now lives in Renfrewshire.
His novels include Boyracers, The Incredible Adam Spark, Death of a Ladies' Man and Pack Men, and his most well-know play is his award-winning 'one woman show' The Moira Monologues, in which he plays Moira herself, the hardest woman in Falkirk.
He has a street named after him in Hallglen, the scheme were he grew up and in 2016 was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Stirling University for his contribution to Scottish culture. Earlier this year he presented a documentary on Robert Burns for BBC Scotland.
He is releasing a new novella, entitled Lazy Susan, later this year, his first prose fiction for ten years, and he currently runs online club nights for everyone who misses 'the dancin': Alan Bissett's Hoose Perty.
